What is Allyship?
Inspiring leadership is not about playing ostrich, but rather rising to the challenge to better the lives of everyone within the system. This is allyship. Allies recognize unearned privileges in their personal lives and in the workplace. Allies use their positions of privilege to underline the systemic issues that differentially impact their female colleagues. Male allies work alongside their female colleagues to generate respectful dialogue, which can build relationships of trust and foster solutions. With the smallest amount of effort, rooted in active listening and respect, men can create cultural shifts and instigate systemic workplace change.
