Welcome to Teach DEIJ
We are committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) in schools. This site aims to highlight best practices, provide access to excellent teaching and learning resources, offer mentorship for everyone wishing to lead and engage with this work and promote and effect changes within international schools, and work towards equal and just practices. We know it is imperative that as educators we embody the desire to learn and to combine reflective practice with a kind, curious and caring approach to creating change in inequitable structures. There are four main foci to our approach.
|
1. Policy and Protocol |
2. Inclusive Environments |
Policies and procedures that explicitly reference DEIJ have been proven to reduce discrimination, depression, self harm and anxiety in students.
3. Teaching ResourcesLesson plans that teach diversity and respect and include examples of DEIJ topics and 2SLGBTQ+ community members reflect the diversity in students' lives and society.
|
Inclusive learning environments—including inclusive signage, word choices, and extra-curricular opportunities—create a positive and welcoming space for all students.
4. Professional LearningProfessional Development for faculty and staff increase empathy, build relationships of trust and create anti-racist and bigoted environments.

Equity is the only acceptable goal.
